I left Paris for Provence yesterday but before I did, the day before, I was up on Montmartre, a really great area of Paris. It is a little village lost in time and the highest place in Paris with a view of the city spread out below. It once had over 40 windmills, used for grinding wheat into flour, and many vineyards of which one remains today. It is an especially wonderful place to be when the sun is out and the sky is blue because Sacre Coeur, the white cathedral up on top, really stands out it its wedding cake way.

Here is Sacre Coeur looking brillant against the blue sky.

One of the two remaining windmills on Montmartre with a tree in lavender blooms in front of it.

These steps have been photographed famously many times over the years.

I have been gone over a week visiting a friend in the States. I love going back and immersing myself in the American culture. I read every magazine I could get my hands on, drank so many margaritas that I don’t think I ever want another one, and watched my fill of American television. It was all nice but it sure is nice to be back in France. I was out today on a cool, but sunny Paris day.

This artist was doing a great painting on the Pont des Arts

I liked this row of tiny tables and chairs shining in the sun.

Isn’t this elegant red rose wonderful in front of the tombstone? Saw it at Pere LaChaise.
