Happy Birthday To Me

Yes, another birthday has come and gone. I’m at the age now when I can’t get too excited that I am another year older. Since we just got back from Switzerland, I couldn’t ask for another trip somewhere as a gift so I picked out a place I have heard of for a birthday lunch in Cucuron called l’Horloge.

It wasn’t the best meal I have ever had but good and a very good value. Maurice and I drank a whole bottle of wine between us so a nap was also on the menu when we got back home.

Cucuron is known for this pond surrounded by 200 year old plane trees

There was a cheese course and, new to me, some confits such as onion which went really well with the cheese.

This little chef was in a window next to our restaurant. I think that next time I will go in and have a look at the confitures for sale.

I love that you usually celebrate by taking interesting trips – so much more satisfying than just accumulating “stuff”…

P.S. I made your Breton Apple Cake for friends the other day and they went crazy for it!

  7. You’ve certainly hit upon the right idea by celebrating life every year, all year, through capturing memories large and small in this personal photojournal – generously shared with an appreciative international audience. We’ve “oohed” and “aahed” over everything from lilac shutters in Provence or a blazing Chinese Red Eiffel Tower to the life cycle of a crummy caterpillar — and loved each moment. We’ve shared your cooking innovations with family saying “this is Linda’s recipe” like you were living next door. What could be a better memorial to life’s adventures than this connection of friendship you have with all the world. And so many of us have enjoyed day after day of fun traveling with you. Happy Birthday Linda, and many thanks for including all of us in your journeys. Long may they continue!
