The Lavender Festival in Valensole

This is the third year in a row that I have made it to the Lavender Festival in Valensole, a village on a high plane known for its lavender.

It was packed with people as you can see. They have booths selling lavender products going up a narrow street which made it hard going sometimes. I usually try to get there early to beat the crowds and the heat but made it at one in the afternoon this time.

As you can see, they were giving away free bunches of lavender.

Can you ever have enough lavender scented, lavender colored teddie bears?

A lovely display in the village.

  2. Lavender-scented teddy bears!!! Those are the most beautiful plush animals I’ve ever seen. I am a huge fan of la lavande.

  3. Lavender and gardenias are my favorite plants. Gorgeous color, lovely fragrance. I’d attend a festival for either of them any day.

  4. The really bold colors of the lavender fields are stunning. I like the little teddy bears and bunches of flowers. Would love to attend a festival like this one. Thanks, Linda. Great photos.

  5. Thank you for this post Linda! I just LOVE lavender and want to plant it along both sides of my very, very, very long drive way. Seeing these fields just reinforces this idea! What a lovely festival to attend.

  6. I grew up in a town that has a ‘Bean Festival’ complete with outhouse races. It’s safe to say this Lavender festival is MUCH more romantic.

    Fabulous pictures.

  7. Love fetes and lavender – how perfect this one must have been. I can imagine the perfume wafting though the village.

Linda I’ll write you soon with my itinerary – hope we can meet!

  8. Yesss….I’m finally crawling out from that nightmare of a writing contest and getting back into the blog world.
Anxious to catch up here….ooooh, those teddies are really something! And your shot of the lavender field…it instantly transported me back to that July I took the TGV from Paris to Avignon. I’ll never forget those fields of purple from the window. Really enjoyed this post, Linda!
