Almost everyone has heard of the Moulin Rouge. I’ve never been to one of their shows-it’s just not my thing. The other day I was in the area and took a few photos.

Here it is- a red windmill. I’ve seen a few of their shows on TV. I’d rather hear jazz myself.

I was surprised to see this door handle on a shop nearby. It turns out to be a shop selling all sorts of items relating to the Moulin Rouge. It’s around the corner from the Moulin Rouge on Rue Lepic.

For instance, you can buy these little windmills to take home. I didn’t go in the store but I’m sure they have cute things.

I went to two French cabaret shows and found them highly over-rated. The girls in the Lido looked bored and lacked magic! Such a shame!

I’ve been to the Lido, not overly impressed with the gratuitous nakedness but I was most impressed by the electronics and wizardry behind the screens, helicopters from the ceiling and floors opening and rising to reveal water and all the animals, horses and Llamas. Only stood outside the Moulin Rouge and took photos like you, this was a long, long time ago though.

The windmill and its unmistaken red coat of paint really stand out from its neighbours.

We went to look for it, but must of either got off the metro at the wrong place or took a wrong turning..yes not my thing either.. I like the windmill at Moulin de la Galette..

I haven’t been to a show here (or at the Lido) either, but it’s still a Paris icon at the base of the hill - love your photos!
