Something New

I’ve noticed several people have posted on their blogs lately that it is their blog anniversary which got me to wondering how long I’ve been doing mine. I haven’t always had a blog. I just started as a website of sorts that my son set up right before I moved to Paris with Maurice. Maurice gave me a digital camera so I could take photos for the site and I was off. I posted very little at first and my main visitors were family and friends, then some ladies who worked with my sons. My son encouraged me to keep it up and told me that I needed to post more often and use more photos and eventually I switched it to a blog when that became the thing to do. Anyway, I looked at my first posting and would you believe it was April 30th, 2001? Nine years, hard to believe!
So, I thought I should do something to celebrate my blog anniversay, even though ten years would be more fitting. I am going to do my first give away. I’m not really sure how to go about it but I have a really great gift in mind which I will post about soon. It will involve one of my photos but it won’t be a framed photo. I’m thinking I will do a ramdom drawing of all who leave a comment. So stay tuned–something new is coming.

  1. I could be sappy and say that your blog is enough of a gift, but it’s true, I do love reading about your exciting French life. Thanks for sharing.

  2. I remember reading your blog before it was a “blog”….when it was a journal. I am sure I have been reading it since close to the beginning. You are just too “cutting edge”! I always tell people how you were a trailblazer.

  3. I really enjoy reading your blog, and admiring all your photos – 9 years, wow, that is impressive!
I just started my own a few weeks ago, it is taking a while to figure out what I want to say and show.(it’s about my work as an illustrator, inspiration, art I love, etc…)

  4. I didn’t even know that blogs existed in any shape or form back in 2001! Congratulations on being a pioneer, and long may you photograph and write!

  5. Congratulations Linda! I’m pleased to say that I discovered your website when it was in its infancy and it’s been a source of delight for me ever since. Actually, it saved my sanity during the hard care-giving years. I followed the excitement of the first remodel of the apartment and the building of the house in Provence. Meeting you and Maurice just made it all the more wonderful.

You’ve grown to be a truly talented photographer…not to mention proficant enough in la langue francais to earn your French drivers license. Wowza! I’m impressed!

  6. Yes, Tricia found the word I’d use to describe you – a Pioneer in the world of Blogging! Well done on your technological “with-it-ness” to make your blog so interesting, with your pictures as well as your subject matter. I really enjoy it – thanks.

  7. Hi Linda – I’m enjoying reading your blog as I prepare for my trip to Paris. Love the photos!

  8. Wow Nine years… I’m a semi older blogger too (well I lurked for 1 year before posting in Feb of 2005)… Time – it flies so fast until you look at your kid is all grown up!

  14. Congratulations. I have always enjoyed your posts. You might not remember me but I met you once. It was at the dinner for the AOL Paris board, Oct 12, 2001. I remember it very clearly because it was my first trip to Paris and the dinner was my first night. You were very sweet. It has been great to read about how good your life has been. My wish is that your have many, many happy days.
