Place de la Nation

They’ve been working for years on the two columns in Nation and finally the scaffolding is coming down. What an incredible job they did. It looks fabulous.

There was an incredible sunset going on and the columns were lit up in a pink glow.

Doesn’t this look wonderful?

It was worth the wait.

  1. How lovely – and you captured them so well. O.K., gotta come back to Paris. Well, maybe I’ll wait a bit. Thanks for posting these in the meantime.

  2. Wouldn’t it be amazing to have a job like that? You clean a tiny portion of this magnificent structure every day and in the end there’s the unveiling. Okay, maybe the job itself would be boring, but the results are great.

  3. It is wonderful that they have been repairing it. Too many are left alone. These are magnificent looking! I love taking and looking at photos such as the ones you have shown. They do look beautiful with the pink glow.

  4. It’s so nice to know that they are willing to spend the time and investment to carefully clean the stone…it literally melts away if it isn’t taken care of periodically. Happy that the gilding is being replaced where it had worn away, as well. We want Paris to continue to be beautiful in the present and future, not just in memory.
