Sainte Chapelle

Sainte Chapelle is an extraordinary place to visit. If the sun is shining the windows in the upper level look like shapphires.

The lower level is lovely too but it was built for the common people. The upper level was for the king. The statue is Louis IX who built the chapelle to house the crown of thorns that he brought back from the Crusades.

The ceiling.

Some of the beautiful windows upstairs. The sun wasn’t out so it wasn’t as spectacular as it could be but still so beautiful.

Sculptures lines the walls.

I liked these two happy angels.

  1. One of my favorite places in Paris – standing in the blue light. We went to a concert there one evening as well with the candles flickering and the music swelling. Fabulous. It was downstairs though, for the common people.

  2. Wonderful photos. I love the rich blues. Just too lovely.
The bathroom is looking so nice. What a grand tub. You are going to enjoy that apartment !
Best wishes for you in your new place.

  3. Yes, I remember Sainte Chapelle very well! So beautiful, that upper level with the glowing stained glass. The docent also drew our attention to the buckling of some of the windows due to settling and weight. But they certainly are gorgeous.
