I’m often around Notre Dame and happy when I can take a different photo than I usually do.

Not the cathedral but some colorful birds seen at the bird market nearby Notre Dame. There is a bird market every Sunday by the metro exit.

A view of Notre Dame down the river a bit. You can see the end of Ile de la Cite. The window you see if part of the memorial to French victims sent to concentration camps during WWII.

A bridge further down the Seine.

A sculpture of Genevieve, the patron saint of Paris. It was done by the same artist that did the statue of Christ with his arms outstretched in Rio de Janiero.

I love walking around the Marais. There are so many things to look at.

For instance there is this interesting chateau, now a library.

There’s the “secret” back entrance into the St Paul St Louis Church.

The top of the dome in St Paul St Louis-the sun is the symbol for King Louis who became a saint.

I’m not sure these are real orchades but I bet they are since they are outside. They were in two windows on a street in the Marais.

The boat is the symbol of Paris. This is my favorite one on a gate of the Carnavalet Museum.

A few photos having to do with eating in Paris:

I’ve heard this is a good place to eat although I’ve never tried it. I took the photo because I like the color they painted the exterior.

The interior. I always think cloth table clothes add so much to a meal.

The Garnier Opera House has a new restaurant. I loved the decoration and color. The prices seemed a little high which doesn’t surprise me. Looks like a good place to go after seeing a performance -usually ballet-there.

There’s a second story there and here is the view from up above.

I was up at the top of Montmartre yesterday and here are a few things I saw:

A whole lot of people sitting on the steps in front of Sacre Coeur.

Sun shining through a stained glass window.

A better than average mime. There are many now who just stand there in a Egyptian costume and bow if you put money in their box. This guy actually interacted with the crowd and did those fancy mime moves.

A crepe to hold you until dinner.

A group of unrelated photos taken out and about in Paris:

Doesn’t this look yummy? I’m not a fan of orange marmalade but I was tempted.

When I first moved to Paris there was a skeleton grafitti on the sidewalk only in black. It faded through the years but I’m assuming the same artist came back to redo it using the grate on the sidewalk as the ribs.

Bread and Roses has opened a second store right up the street from Hermes. Everything coming out to the tables looked really tasty but the prices were really high. Twelve euros for ice tea! There were very stylish people there eating and I’m assuming they were wealthy and they didn’t even look at the prices.

Hermes always has such great windows. I loved the plates in blue and white.

There were many passages, or galleries, in Paris at one time. Only a few remain. I’m am often in the Galleries Vivienne but if you carry on heading north you find others.

Lost in time, Passage Panoramas.

A colorful corner in a restaurant there.

The roof made of glass.

A section of the floor. I saw a special on TV about the galleries and they showed tunnels underneath the passages with storage units. You don’t even notice the glass here and there above the tunnels and in the floor unless a light is on like this.

Lots of stores selling stamps and old postcards.
