Maurice and I have been in the States for almost a month. We started off with a few days in New York City.

I don’t know if you can tell, but this building curves from the base up to the top. I like it.

This was the interior of an enormous Japanese store with sport clothing, ski clothing and sweats. I bought a soft, warm sweatshirt there. Can’t remember the name of the store.

It’s nice to be in NYC in the autumn. These mums were in front of Rockerfeller Center.

It looked like this sculpture was swimming through the mums.

We went to the Top of the Rock where we got this fantastic view of Central Park.

One morning we walked along the High Line once a railway track. There are starting to be more and more interesting buildings like this one along the side.

It was almost Halloween when we were there. I liked this understated decoration, not to mention the front door.

There was a nice display at the Frick of some Dutch paintings. No photos were allowed so I took a photo of a book about it. I actually got to see The Girl With The Pearl Earring by Vermeer in person. Such a thrill. Many works of other famous artists were there too. And it’s such a fabulous building, once a private home.

  1. That curvy building in the first photo, it’s located somewhere in the upper 50s, right? I love that Vermeer painting – is it part of the Frick’s permanent collection or did they have it there on loan from another museum? I’d love to see it, too.
