I have found a new place for hot chocolate. It’s as good as that served at Angelina’s, although without that bowl of whipped cream, and in a much more elegant setting. It’s a chocolate and pastry shop called Jacques Genin. My friend wanted to try the hot chocolate but also the millefeuille, a multi-layered pastry with a delicious looking vanilla cream filling.

The elegant interior.

Another look. It was full of well dressed people, many tourists, but also many French people.

The thick hot chocolate that I made a mess with. It was very decadent.

The famous millefeuille at the table next to us. Everyone ordered it. I was a little underwhelmed myself. Maybe it just tasted a little bland when eaten with that hot chocolate. I expected more of a knock your socks off vanilla flavor.

Genin is known for his caramel and fruit pate as well. He has been called the best chocolate maker in the world. I concur. We were at his shop at 133 rue de Turenne in the 3rd.
