My Mom seems to be pretty much back to her former self although she is still a little weak. She had a fall so I am setting up wifi so she can have one of those home security buttons that she she can press if she falls-“I’ve falllen and I can’t get up!” as the commerical says. I want to find some sort of home health care which is a pain. We spend a lot of time watching TV including the Home Shopping Network where we kept seeing a mascara for sale called Monsieur Big by Lancome. Mom talked me into buying some so now I have stunning eyelahes.

Anyway, when my son was here, we made a stop at a historic resort called Camelback Inn. It was built in 1936 and was popular with Hollywood celebrities. It has a Spanish/Southwest ambiance.

You are greeted as you enter by this Indian statue.

The pretty lobby.

It is too hot to sit out on the patio.

Camelback Mountain from the front of the Inn.

  1. Linda, So glad your mother is better. Many times it seems like there are no good options for helping parents stay in their homes, doesn’t it? Hope you guys find someone reliable to help out. What if you looked at Senior Centers for people in their 60s who want a little extra income under the table? Just a thought. Thanks for playing along with Dreaming of France. Here’s my Dreaming of France meme

  2. Glad to hear your mom is better. Having been through this, I certainly can emphasize with you.

I remember the Camelback Inn well. One of my most hated times was spending 2 weeks on business in Scottsdale in the middle of August. It was 117 and the swimming pool was like a combination sauna and hot tub. Aggh! The air was so hot you scarcely could breathe. Thank goodness for air conditioning. I can’t imagine why the pioneers decided to remain there – they must have arrived in winter when the weather is great. 🙂
