Linda: Loved your web site. Your photos are beautiful. The places you went to all look so gothic. They seem to transport me back in time. I was in Paris and the french countryside about 2 years ago and absolutely loved it! Your photos bring back such wonderful memories for me. There are some cities that you saw which I have not yet had the chance to visit. The most fascinating visit however for me was Mont St. Michel. It was the most amazing place I had ever seen in my life and I can see that you enjoyed it as much as I did. I am a true francophile and hope someday to live in Paris myself. I'd love some advice on how to settle in a foreign country without marrying a frenchman. (Actually, that doesn't seem like such a bad idea after all). Please write back as soon as you can. Thank you for sharing your wonderful memories. Debbie

Loved your story of the renovation - very attractive results. What did you do about the washer/dryer? In my rented apt. this summer in Paris, I had a combination washer/dryer - a FAURE - which I liked a lot. Came home with clean clothes after a month away! Wish I had been better acquainted with the forum members when I was planning my trip - would not have made so many mistakes - and perhaps we could have met in one of your walking tours or for lunch. Good Luck with the building etc. in Provence. Will check out the rest of this site later. Jean

Four stars!! Loved the visit with Linda and her online site, but -- he confesses -- you gotta love the baby pictures most. When in doubt, load the website with photos of adorable grandkiddies. Only a curmudgeon wouldn't like that. All the rest was a lot of fun too. Just one criticism, this site "from Paris" needs a few recipes for goodness sake. take care, best regards --- Warren

Linda, you are living the dream that many of us have! I hope things work out for the purchase of the property and maybe one day we will read the book about your life in the Luberon. In the meantime, I love reading your journal and can't wait to follow the progress of the house-building!

Hi Linda! This is the closest I have been to France! Your site is artful and elegant. The sculpture inserts are the most wonderful. I am excited that Holly may be able to see you in the next few days. That is a thrilling thing for her. By the way, our grandson is BIG. Reg and I have been going to Austin a lot more lately!

Your journal and pictures have made my desire even stronger to see the country of my mothers family. Thank you for such a wonderful site.

Linda, Sorry I wasn't able to talk to you when you called the office. Kept hoping you'd call back but know it was a very busy time for you. Sounds like you and Maurice are having a wonderful time touring France -- again, I'm jealous. Rachel is working in London now and is going to meet us in Paris the weekend of Feb. 8th. Would love to get together with you Saturday night for dinner at your favorite restaurant if you are free and in town. We could also do Friday or Sunday if that would be better. We leave Monday morning. Hope we can see you that weekend. Love, Linda

Linda, (don't put this on your sight, I alread wrote a book). We "chatted" a few weeks ago, and I have lost your personal email address. I'm the gal who brings groups of ladies to France antiquing!!!!!!!!! Give me your personal feeling as an American of how safe it is to bring gals. I feel it's safe, but I'd love a note from you since you're an American plus living in France now. I've got a group ready to come at Easter, and I know it's a long way off, but we have to get hotels etc. Just want your opinion.... Grace for the day. Loved seeing your joint grands and children. ....and I have an exciting life compared to others, but since I've seen Parrrrrie (about 12 times) it's hard to live in Oklahoma, (it's really a sweet place to live, and safer than NEW YORK CITY) and know what is out there in the world. (by the way, my website is up and running. www.oldeworldetours.com ) loved all your pics and comentary. hugs to you and Maurice..... Jan Mc Kinney

Linda and Maurice, how dear of you to allow us to be apart of your life. My friend Susan Foss sent you to me. I bring ladies twice a year to France for antique shopping and like Susan hates to come home. However AT THE MOMENT, I'm glad I'm here to be apart of our country's grieving and support. GOD BLESS AMERICA. Would love to hear from you in your column about what your adopted country is saying about this Horrid and unjust situtation we are in at the present. I have heard from several French friends, and they have expressed the absolute sorrow and unbelief of the past week. One chap said, "We are all Americans right now, loving FREEDOM". The statue on your page looks like she is weeping, isn't that interesting? Can't wait to see your new apartment. Grace for the day, Jan Mc Kinney, Tulsa, Oklahoma

My fiance is from Lyon, France. We are at the end of the Visa process for him to live in the USA. In lieu of the recent tragedy in NYC, in which my heart is full of grief and anxiety for the world: it is my fear that Visa's from all countries will be cut off for some time. I have been to France approximately 21 times and Patrick has been to the USA about 25 times in the 4 years we've been together. Yes, I know..... about every 4-6 weeks one of us is flying. I love France, the people, the sites and I have had very good experiences there. I can relate to all the things you are going through, and I could not have made the choice you have, as a permanent arrangement. I applaude you. And I am very thankful that Patrick wants to move to the USA. Now that you know alittle about me, I just wanted to say, bravo for the website. My girlfriend sent it to me and I've enjoyed reliving so much of my pleasures in France with your experiences. So many people everywhere, see other countries through there politics and not for the people they really are. Most are just like us...... Write me anytime and I would love to visit you on my next excursion through Paris...

Dear Linda, My husband Mike and I have gotten such a kick out of reading your journal and looking at your beautiful photos. We are especially fascinated by the renovations in the apartment because we, too, are in the process of renovating a Hausmann apartment, (I bet it's not too far from you) and dealing with moldings and such. I found my kindred spirit! I would love to hear from you. Joan

Linda, I first saw your website from a link on the Francophile Forum and have been a regular visitor ever since. I'm definitely living vicariously through your experiences! Your website is great and I'd like to do something similar for our friends and family to keep up with us when we move (to near Aix-en-Provence in June 2002). Do you know the name of the software your son used to set up your site? We are novices so we don't need too many bells and whistles and like the "user-friendly" nature of your site. BTW, my husband wanted me to tell you how much he enjoys your photos and that you are a great photographer! Thanks for the time and effort you put into keeping up with the journal. We, as strangers, enjoy it so much! Best wishes, Bonnie Steelman

Hi Linda, Della Dixon let me know about your web site and your adventures in France. Margaret and I live in Normandy, near Bayeux and the D-day beaches. She runs a B&B while I work for an American software company out of its UK office. We'd love to hear from you, talk to you, and hopefully see you and meet your husband one of these days. Please give us at call (02.31.51.03.20) or send me an email so we can try to connect up. Our web site's URL is included so you can check out our place. (We're still working on the web site.) We have certainly had the "fun" of renovation, but we're thrilled to be here and just love living in France. Margaret is very interested to hear about your sister, Diane. Hope to hear from you soon and do some catching up. It's been a long time since we graduated in '64. Jim Stephenson
