Winter light through a window in our Paris apartment building.

A view of Parisian architecture in a rear view mirror.

I loved this window decorating in a shop in Paris.

As we apprach the new year (so quickly!) I thought I would go back through my photos from this year and pick out a few favorites.

Last year we were in Nerja, Spain for Christmas into the new year.

There were lots of beautiful views there overloking the ocean.

Back in Paris to enjoy the winter light.

Always love a view of Notre Dame. I get a thrill each time I see it.

We are back in Arizona with mostly blue skies and sunshine. The other day we made a trip out to nearby Carefree where my parents used to live.

There is an area there full of giant boulders. There is, in fact, a resort there called The Boulders. It’s such an unexpected thing to come upon in the desert.

Seen in the garden in the city center. The ends of the cacti are covered with plastic cups to protect the plants as it got below freezing for two nights.

An unusual cactus. I’m not sure if it is a native plant or not.

We went into an old time bar called The Horny Toad for a drink while there. I liked the wooden floor.

More photos from our brief trip to California.

We went to a really good place to eat in Laguna Beach called las Brisas that has been there for years and serves upscale Mexican food. Fabulous view.

The view outside. Look at that blue sky!

Long Beach has some incredible architecture. It was once very ritzy and attracted the movie star set. It had a beach too but that is gone.

A closeup of some of the detail.

Due to unforeseen circumstances we had to return to Arizona and passed an area with hundreds of wind turbines.

Who doesn’t love California? Every time I visit I always want to live there. The fact that I have no family there and not enough money to afford it doesn’t stop me dreaming. I did live there briefly after my divorce but ended up back in Texas. We went to see a friend in Long Beach while there.

We were headed across a bridge heading to los Angeles when we passed six classic, antique cars. They look like so much fun.

They were all decorated for Christmas.

My classy friend, Nancy, had this very chic leather purse with long fringe.

We had drinks one evening with the windows overlooking a harbor.

I took this as we drove along the coast. So pretty there.
