This and That in Paris
I met a friend for lunch the other day and saw some very photographic sites in Paris.
Here and There
Early One Morning
I walk with a friend two or three times a week very early, usually at 7 AM. It is still dark as the sun doesn’t rise until well after 8. I always have her text me when she is ready as one morning she overslept and I decided to head out on my own. The walk we always do is at the edge of a forest/park, around a lake and it isn’t very well lit which is fine when there are two of you but it was way too dark when I was by myself even though a jogger or two went by. I enjoy seeing shops still lit up in the area.
Here’s a look at the edge of the walk on a foggy morning.
An old time boulangerie, or bakery, still lit inside. This is actually a very well known place.
Kouglof for sale inside. It is a Christmas pastry which originated in Alsace.
A close up. I don’t think I have ever had one. I think it is sort of a fruit cake, although raisins are the only fruit.
A simple Christmas decoration in the window.
Paris Shots
Not doing much writing about Paris these days but I always take photos.
On a door in the Marais. If this doesn’t keep away evil spirits, I don’t know what will.
The boulangerie in our neighborhood sells these delicious looking quiches along with those sandwiches seen below and also some meals you can microwave at home. There are always tons of people in line at lunchtime to buy lunch.
And, of course, desserts are always available. I manage not to buy any for the most part.
This is an old map showing India, and to the south next to the ship, the Maldives. Maurice is taking me there for my birthday for one week. Photos show it to be one of those beautiful places with turquoise water and white sand. We will be there a week. Many photos to follow, I’m sure.
This and That
A mix of photos having to do with food and drink.
The communal table at a Pain Quotidien. I like the ambiance.
Things for sale on their shelves-an old time feel.
There is this little place on the lower part of rue des Martyrs, Popilinis.
They sell these little round eclairs filled with fabulous creams.
Ouch! Wouldn’t you hate to do this?
Waiting in line to buy bread in the evening at my local boulangerie.
