Rainbow

I have a great view from my apartment and can see some magnificent sunsets. I face East and the sun sets behind my building so while I don’t see the actually sunset right in front of me, I get really wonderful sunsets when the light reflects on the clouds. I’ve had some extraordinary sunsets. But, if it’s been raining as the sun sets, I see some fantastic rainbows. Here are three photos I took the other day of probably the best rainbow I’ve ever seen. I couldn’t get the whole thing but I got some fabulous color.

Isn’t it wonderful against the dark sky?
I got this shot just sitting on my couch.
No filters, the original colors. I was happy to see the violet, the last color to appear.

Paris Photos

A mix of photos around Paris taken within a few days of each other.

We had a misty rain and then this rainbow when the sun came out. It was enormous.
And look at this unusual cloud formation on the left. It looks like something came down and smashed in flat on top and I guess a wind of some sort did. I saw it from my apartment window.(I read up on this type of cloud, called an anvil cloud, and it is cause by wind in the cloud hitting ice crystals at the top.)
A really gorgeous flower shop and the sunlight made it look especially great.
These horses walked by the other day. Since the riders are in costume, I assume they were getting ready for July 14th, a big holiday here in France. There is a parade down the Champs Elysees of mostly military groups. I’m hoping to get a photo of the jets which fly down the avenue and over the pyramid at the Louvre. I’ll be there anyway.
Galeries Lafayette is celebrating something they are calling Paris Mon Amour and this is the symbol hanging where the Christmas tree hangs in December.
The Tuileries Gardens has some pretty flower beds.
I went here to get a photo of the ferris wheel now there again after an absence last year along with other rides.
From the covered walkway along rue de Rivoli.

Here and There

Yet another mix of photos from various places in Paris.

A rainbow seen from our apartment the other day after a fast moving rain storm.
Entrance to the American Church of Paris.
The interior of my daughter in law’s new store. She does interior designing now.
Happy Hour.
I found a lively street market fairly close to us that operates on Fridays. Also, some boulangeries so Maurice can find a good baguette. He’s a connaissuer of baguettes.

Goodbye to Ibiza

A few photos taken here and there while in Ibiza, mostly on our last day.

A night shot. As you can see, going to Dalt Vila, the top of Ibiza Town, is a cardiac workout.

We had drinks here one night where the tables were set up on the steps. There were very low bean bag chairs and couches and I really had a struggle to get up at the end.

We ate at a very good Thai restaurant while there-outside under the stars.

Seen on a stroll around the harbor, a yacht, just a humble thing. This was the largest we saw. I always suspect Mafia money when I see these.

A view from the back side of Ibiza Town. This was from the home of a famous architect, new to me, named Broner. He designed it and the furniture inside. It was very simple, really, with windows everywhere with light and views, and, of course, a patio at the top.

The local market in what looks rather like a Greek temple.

A rainbow to bid us adieu.

Rainbows and Raindrops

Provence is gearing up for summer. May is usually cool with a few very warm days here and there and there are occasional rainy days to keep everything green. The other day it rained all day without stopping but by evening it cleared up and the clouds separated letting the sun through which meant a rainbow on the other side of the sky. I was in the house doing something when I happened to glance outside and gave a little scream of excitement and rushed outside with my camera. Maurice and I even got in the car to go up the hill a bit to see if I could get a photo of the whole thing but I didn’t have my wide angled lens with me. It was so exciting to see, one of the largest and brightest that I have seen in a long time and it made you understand why there are so many stories about rainbows.

Maybe there could be a pot of gold at the end of this.

A view from up the hill a way.

I liked how it was pink inside the rainbow.

The next morning I could see raindrops hanging from plants and decided to try my luck photographing them.

There’s something magic about raindrops too-a little world magnified.
