A mix as I’ve been taking photos like crazy.

Linda Mathieu's experiences living as an American expat in France
I hope you all had a Happy Thanksgiving. Over the years since I’ve lived in France, Thanksgiving doesn’t mean as much as it once did. My first few years I really missed it-the food, visits with family and friends and football. I never thought I’d spend Thanksgiving in a hospital yet, here I am. It wasn’t that bad as a dear friend brought me a Thanksgiving meal. Hard to beat turkey and stuffing. There was a nut pie too. I told some of the staff that it was Thanksgiving and I don’t think any of them had heard of it before.
So I continue on with my rehab and will head home on December 6th hopefully without a limp.
It has been very cold in Paris but I bundled up to meet a friend for a walk around Lake Daumesnil where we used to often take walks.
Many of the birds stood or rested on the ice. The reflection is of a fake moutain on the grounds of the Paris Zoo.
I took line 6 home on the metro where I discovered it didn’t have any heat. It’s one of those outdoor trains that go on lines above Paris and I guess they are parked outside and every surface was ice cold, such as the metal bars to hold onto. I had to take a warm bath when I got home. I can’t complain though as I talked to my son in Dallas where it’s been well below freezing for days with rolling blackouts, a probably broken furnace, a fireplace that doesn’t heat very well in a home with big rooms and high ceilings. I think today is the last cold day thank Goodness.
Once again, a mix of photos.
Another batch of unrelated photos.
A new chocolate place in Paris. I haven’t tried it yet, just walked by. It looks interesting and I like the name. They have a very expensive brunch on Sundays.
Sometimes you see wonderful ceilings through open windows. This one is probably centuries old and maybe original.
I’ve never tried this restaurant. I have to say I’ve never had good Mexican food in Paris but I keep trying.
This girl isn’t wearing a hat-that’s her hair. She looked very stylish so I tried to get a photo.
I’m always ending up with photos without a theme but, what the heck, here they are anyway.
One of the love locks found on the Pont des Arts. Some of them, like this one, are really individualized.
People enjoying the warm weather and sunshine along the Seine below Pont des Arts.
These were for sale at a marche selling food from around France. These are a cheesecake and, as it looks like, the top is burned. They are called Tourteau Fromage and are only baked in a certain area of France. I bought one out of curiosity and it was basically a sweet vanilla cake and that black topping, which is said to keep the cake moist, gives it a slightly burned taste, not my cup of tea.
I saw this grafitti not far from where we live. It isn’t painted on the wall, but pasted.
